Dorothy M. Sheffield

Mrs. Dorothy Mae Thompson Adams Sheffield, age 86, of Atlanta, GA, formerly of Douglasville, passed away April 18, 2015. She was born June 5, 1928 in Collingdale, PA. She was a member of Lithia Springs Assembly of God.

Mrs. Sheffield was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Howard Sheffield; daughter, Vicki Adams Hindsman; sons, Butch Adams and Ricky Adams; her parents, Edwin and Mary Cookingham Thompson; and a brother, Walter L. Thompson.

She is survived by a son, Steve Adams of Cleveland, GA; daughter, Joyce Adams Wilson and husband Ronnie of Atlanta, GA; daughter, Sally Adams Buckner and husband Ashley of Douglasville, GA; brother, Edwin G. Thompson III and wife Suzanne of Pensacola, FL; brother, Charles R. Thompson and wife Beverly of Opelika, AL; daughter-in-law, JoAnn Adams; son-in-law, Fred Hindsman; sister-in-law, Jean Thompson; 17 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, April 20, 2015 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the Rosehaven Chapel with Reverend Ashley Buckner officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Chad Wilson, Robert Wilson, Jody Adams, Mark Adams, David Adams, Dustin Adams, Jeremy Adams and Jason Adams. Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
