Edgar Garrison Dutton

Born on July 22, 1946, Edgar was the beloved son of the late Mr. Edgar "Ed" Dutton and Mrs. Mamie Boles Dutton. A lifelong Georgian, Edgar was known for his big heart, strong work ethic, and unwavering love for his family and community.

Edgar had a lifelong passion for music of all genres and could often be found tapping along to his favorite tunes. He loved building and working on cars, a hobby that brought him pride and joy throughout the years. Edgar especially cherished large family holiday gatherings, where stories were shared, laughter was abundant, and memories were made. A proud fan of Georgia sports, he never missed a chance to cheer on the Atlanta Braves or his beloved Georgia Bulldogs.

More than anything, Edgar will be remembered for his kindness and generosity—he had a big heart and was always willing to help others when he could. Whether it was offering a hand, a listening ear, or a place at the table, he lived a life rooted in compassion.

He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Margaret Edwards Dutton; his parents; his siblings—James Dutton, Amos Dutton, Jerry Dutton, Charles Dutton, Infant Brother Dutton, Kathleen Grizzle, Ruby Nell House, Lillian Wilson, and Geneva Grimes; as well as his grandson, Daryl Upton, and granddaughter, Jessica Atkins.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving children: Matt (Renee) Dutton,Pam(Carl) Hemperley, and Renee Dutton; his sister, Dorothy Rousy; grandchildren: April, Eric, Mark, and Crystal; and a host of great-grandchildren: Ethan, Elijah, Emerson, Everett, Caroline, Charlie, Jack, Juliet, Ashlyn, Abby, Sheriff, Keagan, Hunter, Zane, and Noah.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Whitley-Garner at Rosehaven Funeral Home in Douglasville, GA. A celebration of Edgar’s life will be held at a later date.
