Ms. Ella Mae Bridges, age 97, of Douglasville, GA passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2019. She was born on November 27, 1921 in Lexington, GA to the late William and Odessa Boggs. Ella Mae has been a member of Bright Star United Methodist Church since 1971. It was there that she founded the “Hill Toppers” group. Being an active member of the church, she generously served her community by participating in the Meals on Wheels events. Ella Mae also loved to travel. She joined the Christian Travel Club and has been to all 50 states. She enjoyed cooking and it is said that her cakes were out of this world.
Ms. Bridges was preceded in death by her parents; her first late husband of 54 years, Eugene S. Bridges; and her husband of 15 years, Isaac Holden, Jr.; and numerous siblings.
She is survived by her sons, Stan Bridges and Tim (Terri) Bridges; 2 grandchildren, Courtney (Matt) Chastain and Chelsea (CJ) Starnes; 3 great-grandchildren, Tyson Chastain, Anna Chastain, and Jonah Starnes; and numerous other loved ones.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, August 25, 2019 from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm. Following the visitation, a funeral will be held in the Rosehaven Chapel at 3:00 pm with Reverend Timothy Phillips officiating. Interment will follow at 4:00 pm at Rosehaven Memorial Park.
