Erick Marlon Wright, age 34, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Thursday, August 11, 2022. He was born March 21, 1988 in Gadsden, Alabama. Erick had an outgoing personality, was very funny and got along with everyone. He played sports and was All State in Soccer and Cross Country for three years while he attended Chapel Hill High School. An avid sportsman, he played tennis, was a member of a soccer travel team and played basketball for fun. Soccer was a sport he always wanted to play professionally. Erick was a gentle spirit and a great dad. Growing up, he loved taking family trips, enjoying going to the mountains and visiting Disney World and Universal Studios in Orlando. Erick was always proud to be a big brother to his sister and always looked after her. He loved visiting his sister at the beach where she lives in Hilton Head. He was a follower of Christ and read his Bible to comfort him through trials. Erick loved his mother and was a momma’s boy through and through. He would do anything for his mother and was very gentlemanly, always pulling out her chair for her and opening doors for her. Erick had a great admiration for his dad, who was a semi-pro tennis player. Erick strived to get as many trophies as his dad. As a child, he would stare at his dad’s tennis trophies in admiration of him and always looked up to him. That is where his motivation and admiration for tennis and sport in general came from.
Erick was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Bertha Acevedo and Raphael Farias; and his paternal grandparents, Betty Jean Tillman and Mathis B. Wright.
Those left to cherish his memory are his parents, Burl Malone and Betty Esperanza Wright; his beloved daughter who took her strawberry blonde hair after her Dad, Reece Wright; sisters, Bethany Wright Strickland, Kim Wright, Haley Moore and Lauren Wright; and brother Eric Dyar. Erick also leaves behind numerous other loved ones, family and many friends.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, August 27, 2022 from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm. A Celebration of Life will begin, following the visitation, at 2:00 pm in the Rosehaven Chapel.
