Mrs. Erlene Bennett Cohran, age 91, of Temple, Georgia, passed away Friday, July 17, 2020. A native of Douglas County, she was born in Douglasville on November 10, 1928. Mrs. Cohran was a tax examiner with the IRS. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a “Diva”, enjoyed shopping, was very particular and even a little “spoiled”. In her spare time, she enjoyed word searches, and was an avid fan of Jimmy Swaggart, Bill Gaither, and especially Gaither gospel music. Mrs. Cohran had been a member of The Church of God of Prophecy for 60 years.
Preceding Mrs. Cohran in death were her beloved husband, Claude Eugene Cohran; two sons, Jimmy Cohran and Johnny Cohran; her parents, Earl and Lorene (Morris) Bennett; and her one and only sister, Bobbie Jean Howard.
She is survived by son, Jerry (Jill) Cohran; daughter, Claudette McClure; grandchildren, Courtney Cohran, Jennifer (Steven) Naczki, Jill (Tyler) Ward, Greg Cohran, Brian Penny, Judy Ann and Jimmy Carpenter; great-grandchildren, Tyler Coulon, Kason Ward, Kole Ward, Tori Ward, Sophia Cohran, Jordyn Stephens, Bella Stephens, Logan Penny and Madelyn Penny.
The family will be accepting visitors on Friday, July 24, 2020 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm with Larry Lowry and James Green officiating. She will be laid to rest at Douglasville City Cemetery following the service.
