I met Erlene in August 2004 when my family and I moved from New Jersey to Georgia and I have to say she adopted us right off the bat. If I was in town I would call her and say, can I stop by to see you, the answer was always yes. My John, JJ, and I would have long visits with her, she love my salmon so I would often cook and bring her dinner. But what I will miss the most is her saying “Shirley” I said yes Erlene, “I want to tell you something” what’s that love, “I Love you” and I would tell her I love her too.

Sleep on my sweet friend, I am a better person because of you. You loved unconditionally.

Claudette, and the rest of family I am lifting you up in prayers.

Erlene was one of the first people I met in church in Douglasville. She was always one of my biggest supporters when I was the children’s minister. I loved her and our many visits, sitting on her front porch swing. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this difficult time. I wish I was physicality able to be with you , but I will be there in spirit. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord!

Not only was she my Great Aunt, she was a great spiritual mentor to me as well. She encouraged me to take on her adult Sunday School class years ago. She believed in me and I grew so much during those years. Love her and look forward to seeing her again in Heaven.

Claudette, Jennifer, and Jill I am so sorry for your loss. However I can remember your mom and granny as a tough lady. I do remember how much she loves you guys. Be thankful you had her this long. I am so glad I knew her in our childhood growing up. Praying for your broken heart to be healed. But know and trust that she earned her wings and she is running the streets of gold where there is not a worry in the world. Love you all. Let me know if you need anything at all.

I first met Sister Erlene in 1986 at the Church in Douglasville, and she made me feel welcome from day one. She always had a smile on her face, stopped to say hello and shake my hand whenever she saw me, and would still do so years later when I would go to the church to visit. She was a dear saint of God, and I will miss her dearly. My prayers go out to Claudette, Jennifer, Jill and the rest of her family.

I have so many wonderful memories of my Granny that I don't have room to put them all here. My fondest memories are of me spending the weekends with her when I was little, all the fun vacations she took with us, spending holidays with her and watching how excited she would get opening gifts, so many more amazing times we shared. We will miss her so much, her singing and clapping, her demanding high maintenance ways, her love for her family. She was truly a remarkable Christian woman and the best Granny ever. Rest now Granny. Until we see you again. We love you the bestest and the mostest! Jennifer and Steven Naczki

I met Earlene while she was dating my Uncle Claude. I thought she was the prettiest woman I had ever seen, she was as sweet as she was pretty.
