Mr. Francis Ifedayo Akinwumiju, age 67, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away on Sunday, November 14, 2021. He was born in Ondo, Nigeria on October 19, 1954 to the late Adegbule Joseph Akinwumiju Fawehinmi and Ademusuru Mercy Adebusoye.

Francis grew up in Nigeria before moving to London to attend the London School of Economics where he earned a Master’s degree. In 1992, Francis and his growing family moved to the United States to chase the dream of owning his own business. Being an entrepreneur, his dream came true through owning a successful car dealership for many years.

While his children were young, he enjoyed spending time with them, playing checkers, chess, and other board games. Francis loved to go on walks and read. His favorite type of books were self-improvement books. He also liked to stay up to date on the current events of the world – watching the news whenever he could. He loved to travel for both business and pleasure, making many trips with his loving wife to Liverpool, where they were married. Francis also enjoyed trips to Panama City and going back home to Nigeria.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Olubumi Fanimo.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of almost 39 years, Dr. (Mrs.) Florence Akinwumiju; his children, Sam Akinwumiju (Kandis), Mabel Akindele (Gbolahan), and Simon Akinwumiju (Angela Holman); his siblings, Rufus Akinwumiju, Esther Akinwumiju, Iyabo Akanji, Funke Kalejaiye, Akinsola Akinwumiju, Olawumi Akinwumiju, Akindeji Akinwumiju, Olayemi Akinwumiju, Oluwaseun Akinwumiju, Omogbolaga Akinwumiju, Oluwasegun Akinwumiju, and Oluwaseyi Akinwumiju; his grandchildren, Tamara Temitope Akinwumiju, Ademipo Akindele, Adelola Akindele, and Levi Akindele; and numerous other loved ones, family, and friends.

The news of your passing to glory is still shocking and hard to comprehend Egi Ife, to know you is to know the epitome of humility, humbleness, brilliant, quiet, and lover of peace. The saying that the good ones die young is able you, in every of our conversations, you have never said anything negative about anyone or anything, but words of encouragements. Only my Lord is considered good, but you came close. Sleep on sir and even though it is difficult, I have to say goodbye till we meet at the feet of our maker. For the living, if we want to see Egi Ife again, we need to live our lives the way he lived his.
The good Lord will forgive Egi Ife for ALL his shortcomings and grant him eternal life, and to his immediate family, siblings, the entire Akinwumiju/Fawehinmi, accept my sincere condolences for the departed of one of our own, Olori Ebi.

It's a pleasure knowing you and deeply saddened by your demise. However, you have left an unforgettable memory of kindness, gentleness and wisdom. Your demeanor said it all. You choose your words slowly, calmly and full of wisdom. Thank you for sharing some of life's lesson with me within the short time I've known you. Rest On! it must be a celebration in heaven as you arrived home.
