Frank was a devout Catholic and proud, longtime member of the Knights of Columbus. He lived a life of service to his community and his country.
He was born to Harold and Solange Moran on January 24, 1946, in Fontainebleau, France. The family later moved to Harold's hometown of Manchester, New Hampshire, where Frank lived until he joined the United States Army. He served his country for 13 years in the Army, first as a military intelligence analyst and later as an infantry officer fighting in Vietnam.
Following his military service, Frank worked for several years in the Georgia Department of Audits. Later, he moved to BellSouth, where he enjoyed a long and successful career, retiring in 2005. Retirement unlocked Frank's passion for working with various community and charitable organizations. He dedicated himself to the Douglas County School System Mentoring Program, where he guided Shem Grant from elementary school through college.
While serving as the Youth Minister at St. Theresa Catholic Church, he spent countless hours working with the Life Teen program helping keep local youth involved with their faith and making sure they always had a good meal after classes.
The Special Olympics held a special place in Frank’s heart, becoming a yearlong passion for Frank, his wife Gwen, and their daughter Michele.
He gave generously of his time and talents to numerous other causes and organizations over the years, including St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Habitat for Humanity, Operation Christmas, The Pantry, Coats for Kids, and Sleep in Heavenly Peace. He also helped built home ramps for disabled people and provided meals for the homeless.
When not volunteering, Frank enjoyed playing golf, gardening, cooking and spending time with his beloved children and grandchildren.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Joan. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Gwen; daughter, Michele Moran; daughter Deborah Daniel and her husband Chad; and his cherished granddaughters, Emily and Olivia Daniel. He also leaves his treasured bonus son, Shem Grant.
