Gene Myers

Gene was a man who could do just about anything he put his mind to. Over the years, he worked as a truck driver, diesel mechanic, and business owner. He proudly served in the United States Army in his younger years, carrying with him the strength, determination, and work ethic that became such a meaningful part of his life.

But more than anything he did for a living, Gene will be remembered for the size of his heart. He loved deeply, gave freely, and had a way of making an impression on the people around him. He was a man who loved his family and treasured the simple things in life.

Gene had a lifelong love of Harley-Davidson motorcycles and old fixer-upper cars—especially the kind that other people might have given up on. There was always something special about an old vehicle to Gene, and he could see the possibility in things others might have overlooked.

He leaves behind his daughters, Brandi Jones and Tonia (Luiz) Ferreira; and his grandchildren, Kalob Jones, Jacob Jones, and Rachel Jones, who will carry his memory and the love he gave them throughout their lives.

Gene was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Catherine Myers, and his brother, Dennis “Dude” Myers. He is survived by his brother, James “Allen” Myers, along with his daughters, grandchildren, extended family, and many friends whose lives were touched by his kindness and generous heart.

Though his absence leaves an enormous hole in the hearts of those who loved him, Gene’s memory will live on in the stories shared, the lessons he taught, the machines he worked on, the roads he traveled, and most of all, in the family he loved so dearly.

In accordance with his wishes, Gene’s body will be cremated. A Gathering of Friends will take place at Crossroads Community Church 185 Meadow Ln SE Cleveland, TN 37323 on Saturday, August 15 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. A committal service at Georgia National Cemetery will take place at a future date to be announced.

Rest easy, Gene. You will be deeply missed and forever loved.
