He was born in Hapeville, Georgia, on October 14, 1934, one of eight children born to the late Mr. Charles Claxton and Sarah Smith.
Gerald was an Army veteran who drove a truck for Georgia Highway Express (later Transus) his entire career. He was a 2nd degree black belt in Karate who loved woodworking, traveling, and serving in his church. Gerald will be truly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, Gerald is preceded in death by his loving wife, Rosemary Claxton.
Gerald is survived by his sons, Rodney Claxton and Russell Claxton, and his daughter Lucy Pitts and grandchildren, Brannon Claxton, Hannah Wilks, Amy Claxton, Chasedie Woody, Amber Pitts, Kyle Pitts, Jake Pitts, Wade Claxton, and Emi Rowland.
A graveside service is scheduled at Mozley Memorial Gardens in Lithia Springs, Georgia, on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at 2:00 PM with Steve Green officiating.
