She was a woman of remarkable resilience, strength, and faith. A lifelong reader and learner, she built a treasured personal library of more than 5,000 books. Her love of words was matched by her love of people, and she was an active member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, where her faith was both her anchor and her joy.
Her life was not without hardship. She was paralyzed in a car accident in 1959 and later survived a devastating house fire. She met these challenges with grace, humor, and an unshakable spirit. She found comfort and delight in the simple pleasures of life, from tending her garden where Easter lilies and daisies were her favorite blooms to the lighthearted fun of entering sweepstakes, which she approached with the same optimism she carried throughout her days.
She will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her humor in the face of difficulty, and the love she shared with her family, friends, and community.
Ms. Bullington is survived by her daughter, Amy Bullington and her husband, Bo Allen; nephews, Newell Chandler and Sherbet Horsely; nieces, Gail Breathrick, Janice Reeves, Brenda Story and Dean Chandler; several cousins; special friend, Mildred Nelms as well as her beloved cat, Jason.
