Gregory “Greg” Dale Askea, age 61, of Canon, Georgia passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2021. Greg was born March 30, 1959 in Atlanta, Georgia. He proudly served his country as a Veteran of the U.S. Army. Greg was family oriented, loving to spend time with his family and especially his grandchildren. He was a plumber working for 40 years with various companies. Greg was known to be a humorist who enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren, was a bass pro, enjoyed camping and traveling. In his spare time, he enjoyed working on his house. Greg was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Toccoa, Georgia.
Preceding him in death were his mother, Ruth Askea; brother, Terry Askea; grandson, Paul Padgett; and father-in-law, William Robinson.
Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Carolyn Robinson Askea; his father, Harold O. Askea, Jr.; his siblings, Anthony Harrold Askea of Florida, Don Allen Askea of Douglasville, Georgia, Kim Shiela Cox of Douglasville, Georgia, Chris Timothy Askea of Florida, Chuck Kenneth Askea of Alabama, Britt Askea of Braselton, Georgia, and Timothy Askea of Florida; mother-in-law, Mary Jordan; and sister-in-law, Ruby Nell Porterfield; grandchildren, Erica (Steven) Padgett of Royston, Georgia, Hope (Michael) Turner of Hartwell, Georgia, Michael “Peanut” Turner, Jr. and Ryan Turner.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, January 31, 2021 from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM in the Rosehaven Chapel. Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Turner, Ryan Turner and Steven Padgett. Interment will follow at Rosehaven Memorial Park.
