Hazel Shelton Jennings, age 94, of Douglasville, passed away Monday, March 7, 2022. She was born in Jefferson, Georgia on July 14, 1927, the daughter of the late Charles Dewitt Shelton, Sr. and the late Roberta Streetman Shelton. Hazel joined Ebenezer Baptist Church in 1958 and formerly taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School.
Hazel loved flowers, gardening, dancing, the Senior Citizen Center and their events, Elvis and being with her family. Everyone who knew Hazel knew how she made the best biscuits!
In addition to her parents, Hazel was also preceded in death by her husband, George “Boots” Jennings; her daughter, Louise Jennings Thomas; her granddaughter, Wendy Perry; her sisters, Mary Grace Morgan and Annie Jean Gray; her brothers, Charles Dewitt Shelton, Jr. and George Bobby Shelton; her son-in-law, Wayne Perry and her daughter-in-law, Marie Jennings.
She is survived by her children: Betty Jennings, Bronnie “Pepper” Perry, George Steve Jennings and his wife, Bonnie, Charles Robert Lee Jennings, Floyd Howard Jennings, Jimmy Dean Jennings and his wife, Dana, Jackie Ray Jennings, and David James Jennings; sister, Betty Jean Davis and her husband, William; lots of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Whitley-Garner at Rosehaven Funeral Home on Thursday, March 10th, 2022 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, and on Friday, March 11th from 12:30 pm until 1:45 pm.
The Funeral Service will be held Friday, March 11th at 2:00 pm in Rosehaven’s Chapel with Pastor Terry L. Braswell, Jr. and Mr. Tony Lee officiating. Hazel’s granddaughter, Morgan Jennings, will provide a solo musical selection.
Interment will follow in Rosehaven Cemetery with Chris Guyton, Howard Jennings, Lewis Huddleston, Justin Jennings, Hunter Jennings and David Meherg serving as Pallbearers.
