On May 21, 1952, a blessed child, James Sinclair Anderson, entered the life of Florence and Harold Anderson, Sr. His destination began in Newport News, Virginia. There were two other siblings, Rose and Harold, eagerly waiting for the new addition to the family. Being the baby had its pros and cons, but James' determined personality allowed him the ability to establish an enduring relationship with his older sister and brother. His love for them is beyond words.
Unfortunately, but fortunately, transitioning into adolescence is the progression of life. James discovered his passion for music in high school, participating in the Huntington High School marching band. He played the tuba. I am not sure how such a small frame man could maneuver that musical instrument, but this outstanding child marched in style with it. Additionally, he designed the 1970 Huntington High School yearbook cover. Most might conclude that James was well-balanced, intelligent, and outgoing; therefore, he enjoyed being with the scholars while hanging out with the party students. James' social engagement did not affect his grades. He graduated with honors. Life is life, and it often brings pivotal moments. Thus, in James' junior year, he met Vicky Harris his son (Eric Harris) mother who he loved and adored.
After graduating from Huntington High School, James opted not to follow the same military path his siblings took. He attended Virginia Commonwealth University and studied fashion design. James, known mainly by his childhood friends as "Jimmy", by nature loved the art environment. First, he explored fashion design and later turned his concentration to the graphics arena and graduated from Atlanta Arts Institution. Those that knew James would define him as adventurous. He lived from coast to coast, evidently establishing his roots in Atlanta, Georgia.
In Georgia, he meets his “Georgia peach”, and on May 4, 1985, he wed Bonita (Denson) Anderson. Ten years later, Jamie, better known as Jamo, came into his life. She was the apple of his eye, and she always took her dad’s side whenever there was a dispute.
Another great season occurred for James. He took a leap of faith and decided to operate his own Graphics company. AGI Graphics had many ups and downs; however, he persevered and experienced outstanding accomplishments working with different churches, government affiliates, and various services such as trade shows, vehicle wrapping, signs, and any imaginable graphics. And they were done in quality and excellence. After 25 years, AGI Graphics' door was closed but not forgotten.
Therefore, this outstanding husband, father, son, brother, and successful businessman lived a full life of 70 years, passing on June 6, 2022. He was a contributor to society and an example of a model citizen.
He leaves his surviving wife, Bonita Anderson; his son's mother, Vicky Harris; his sister Rose Thompson; his two children, Eric Devon Harris, and Jamie Sinclair Anderson; his three grandchildren, Jasmine (Justin) Janea Braxton, Phiyer Mosiah Harris, and Marissa Harris; loving cousins, Shirley Mae Carey, and her four children, Clifton (Skip) Carey, Cynthia (Cindy) Johnson, Charlene Carey, and Linda Darlene Macon; Joyce Allen, and Janice Ferguson.
A celebration of life service for James will be held Saturday, June 11, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Whitley-Garner Funeral Home.
