

James was born in Hampton, Virginia on September 25, 1947 the son of the late Ernest Ballou and Ruby Lunary Culler Ballou. He enjoyed time spent with his family and looked forward to those get-togethers. James and his sister, Jane would spend quality time together going to libraries and bookstores. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed collecting baseball cards. The Kentucky Wildcats basketball team was his favorite college team followed by the Atlanta Braves. James was always busy doing something. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing trivia, playing with his nephew cat—Elmo—that was his “Buddy”, talking with other veterans and servicemen. He enjoyed reading and keeping up with the news, playing trivia, anything and everything to do with computers. He had a love for Korean food, especially his wife’s chicken and rice soup; eating a good steak and talking about food prep. His love of food was learned from his father who was career Air Force in food service.
James was retired from the United States Air Force having served our country for twenty two years.
He is survived by his son, Michael Lee Ballou and his wife, Kim; grandsons: Liam Michael Ballou and Maverick Lincoln Ballou; his sister, Jane Yvonne Ballou.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Sun-Ok Ballou.
In accordance with his wishes, he will be cremated.
