Janice Richardson

Sarah Janice Richardson, 94, of Douglasville, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 30. 2025. She was born in Heard County, Georgia, on March 22, 1931, to the late Mr. Charles Fletcher Maxwell and Annie Myrtice Maxwell. She was the 2nd oldest of a tight Christian family of 10. The family moved to Douglasville when she was 8.

Graduating from Douglas County High School in 1943 and remained good friends with many classmates throughout the years.

Married in June of 1952 to her childhood sweetheart, Jack Hulet Richardson, for 61 years, who preceded her in death.

She was a loving wife and mother. She is survived by her two daughters, Jan Johnson, husband Gary, and Jarita Bretherton, husband Bob, and grandson Richard Jade Chumard. Her granddaughter, Dana Alexandra Johnson, preceded her in death.

As an avid painter, her creativity stretched from flowers, mountains, cabins, and seashores, with an occasional inspiration from her travels with family and friends.

The enthusiastic gardener, flowers excited her passion. Throughout her years, she explored many varieties of plants, always eager to see the next bloom. Her flower gardens were an ever-changing, bold burst of color year-round.

She was of the Baptist faith and cherished church friendships as member of Victory Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 1:00PM at Whitley-

Garner at Rosehaven Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 11:30 AM to

1:00 PM. She will be laid to rest at Mozley Gardens Memorial Park in Lithia Springs following

the service.

She will be forever remembered for her love of the Lord, her family and friends.
