Joel Christopher Anderson, age 50, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Sunday morning, June 25, 2023. Joel was born July 21, 1972 in Bellflower, California. Family was so important to Joel—he was a devoted husband of almost 28 years, and a loving and caring father to his three children. Joel’s family moved from California to Florida when he was in the second grade, then later moving to Douglasville as Joel was entering his junior year in high school. He was a 1990 graduate of Alexander High School. Joel graduated from University of West Georgia with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. He had a 20-year career with MARTA Police. An outdoorsman, Joel enjoyed anything involving nature—loving to camp and kayak, and was a fan of football, hockey and baseball. Joel was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and he served a two-year mission in Arcadia, California.
Preceding in death were his paternal grandparents, Rex and Madge Anderson; maternal grandparents, Gerald and Margaret Harvey; and a niece, Morgan Jones.
Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 27 years (28 years in August), Kristin L. Anderson; his parents, Jerry and Joyce Anderson; three children, Brendan Christopher Anderson, Cassidy Elisabeth Anderson and Owen Michael Anderson; brothers, Jeremy (Lisa) Anderson, Joshua (Sonya) Anderson; sisters, Jessica (Darren) Venters, Jill Floyd, and Joanna (Jared) Davies; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Stephen and Patricia Lynn. Joel also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends. To know him was to love him and he will be missed by all who knew him.
