John D. Estes

John was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He gave the biggest hugs to his favorite people and would say it’ll be okay or doop to say I love you. He made sure to give his “Betsy” 16 kisses every single day. He was supportive of others and when leaving the house, he’d always say a fond hang in there.

John enjoyed being active in life. He’d ride bikes with his children, enjoyed his daily 5 mile walk with his wife and enjoyed his Sunday morning hikes up Stone Mountain. He loved living life to the fullest both mentally and physically.

John was blessed with an amazing sense of humor. He enjoyed making others laugh and was quite the storyteller.

John’s memory will be cherished by his loving wife of 66 years, Bessie Miller Estes; children, Cynthia Estes, Sandra Wilhoit and her husband Eddie, Steve Estes, Stanley Estes and Cathy Brown and her husband R.C.; 4 grandchildren, Tracy Corbitt, Joshua Brown, McKayla Brown and Summer Brown; 5 great-grandchildren, Katlynn Corbitt, Davit Corbitt, Justin Register, Ciera Register and Wyatt Register; and his work family at Eagle Empire.

The family will receive friends on Monday, March 16, 2020 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Whitley-Garner at Rosehaven 8640 Rose Avenue Douglasville, Georgia 30134. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm in Rosehaven Chapel with Rev. Thomas Cole officiating. Burial will follow at Sweetwater Memorial Park 4614 Hiram-Douglasville Highway 92 Hiram, Georgia 30141.
