A devoted father and husband, he enjoyed being with his family and loved his wife and boys dearly. In his younger years, Joe played the bass guitar and would play with his boys and brother on occasion. He additionally used to like fishing and travel to St. George Island. He was a loyal employee with the Postal Service in Atlanta and loved his job immensely. On his days off, he enjoyed working around the yard. Joe was a humorous man, always quick witted and cracking a dad joke. When people tried to rush him, he would quickly tell them, “I’m American, not Russian!”
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his brother, William L. Head, Jr.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, Jacqueline Moore Head; sons, Brandon Head (Tara) and Brian “Buzz” Head (Brittany Hood); several nieces and nephews; cousins, Becky Roper, Kathy Attaway, Jeff Head, and Joy Cantrell; brothers-in-law, Jay Moore, Jr. (Debbie), James Moore, and John Moore (Kyle); and a sister-in-law, Judy Upchurch (Eddie).
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, November 13, 2021 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm. A memorial service will be held in the Rosehaven Chapel at 2:00 pm immediately following visitation.
