Josephine Gliwa Johnson

Ms. Josephine Johnson, age 83, of Douglasville, GA passed away, Monday, September 2, 2019. She was born on November 30, 1935 in Tuscaloosa, AL. She retired from the Douglas County Board of Education in the Business Department. Josephine is described as a sweet, loving, and loyal woman. She loved all animals, but especially loved her dogs. She was a doting wife and mother. She was a woman of faith and was an active member of the Douglas County Retired Teachers Association.

Preceding her in death are her husband of many years, “Coach” Jimmy Johnson; her parents, Adam and Cecilia Gliwa; and her brother, Bill Gliwa.

She is survived by her sons, Gary (Jan) Johnson and Mark (Kristen) Johnson; her brother, Paul (Barbara) Gliwa; and her three grandchildren, Jade Chumard, Dana Johnson, and Jack Johnson.

The family will be having an inurnment on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at 5:00 pm at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.

Mark and Kristen, I was saddened to hear that Jo had passed. She was a wonderful mentor to me when I first started to work at CO. I always thought she was so beautiful - inside and out. She will be missed. Please know my thoughts and prayers are with you.
