Joyce Eileen (Taylor) Harper, age 90, of Douglasville, Georgia, passed away peacefully, February 13, 2025. She was born in Toledo, Ohio, on July 22, 1934, the daughter of the late Mr. Wesley Charles Taylor and Mrs. Dorothy Matilda (Campbell) Taylor.
Joyce moved from Toledo to Douglasville as a young single mother of one young daughter for a fresh start with aspirations of beginning a new life, where she was blessed with three more children. As a working Mom, she held many positions at various places of employment throughout her career. Joyce loved her family and always put them and others first. She especially enjoyed spending time with her many grandchildren. She helped to raise some of them and loved entertaining them, often spending endless hours playing games with them.
She was an avid fan of NASCAR Racing, never missing a race on TV and attending in person whenever she had the opportunity. She had several race car drivers she pulled for throughout the years, but her favorite was# 9 Bill Elliot (Awesome Bill from Dawsonville) and Bill's son Chase, who now drives the# 9 car.
Most importantly, Joyce loved God and was a faithful Christian. She attended the Douglasville Church of God of Prophecy whenever she was able, where she made a lasting impression on all who knew her. Joyce's memory will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her, and her legacy of love, faith, and devotion will continue to inspire all who remember her.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son; Phil Harper; brothers, Lester Taylor, Leonard Taylor, Richard Taylor, Charles Taylor, and Wesley Taylor Jr; sisters, Loretta Taylor and Rosemary (Taylor) Daleska.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving children: daughters Dorothy Westmoreland (Gary), Anita Brown (Rob), and son Chris Harper (Kolleen); brothers Raymond "Bobby" Taylor; sisters Theresa Pattison (John) and Linda Lindhurst (Roger); eight grandchildren, Anthony, Shannon, Jessica, Kai-lei, Paul, Cody, Lauren, and Felicia; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.
As per her wishes, a family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Douglasville Church of God of Prophecy Missions fund in her honor.
Whitley-Garner at Rosehaven is honored to be entrusted with the services of Mrs. Joyce Harper.
