Mrs. Judith Anne Smith of Douglasville, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2020 at the age of 73. She was born in Mitchell, South Dakota on April 7, 1947. Mrs. Smith was an avid reader and especially took to romance novels. She was also very invested in NASCAR and Braves baseball. To Mrs. Smith, family was everything, nicknamed "Rosebud," she was the heart and glue to her husband and daughters. She was the sweetest person that always knew how to bring you peace within yourself. Mrs. Smith was also very loving and always had an open ear if you needed to talk and look for sound advice.
Mrs. Smith, having served in the Air Force along with her husband, moved around quite often over the years with her girls in tow. Her adventurous nature and love of reading would always have her finding books with information about the new places that they were assigned to move to. Her favorite places to go were the beach, where she and her family would spend all day in the summer, and the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France. Mrs. Smith was also a Veteran of the Vietnam War.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Robert Disburg and Mary Fleming Disburg; her brother, Kevin Disburg and sister, Bernice Peters.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband of 53 years, Peter Smith; her daughters, Renee (Anthony) Smith, Lyssa (Michael) Hilko, Michele (Barry) Whatley, and Kathy Smith; 6 of her siblings; 7 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild and 1 on the way; and numerous other loved ones, family and friends.
The family will have a Celebration of Life Service on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at 3:00 PM at Whitley-Garner at Rosehaven 8640 Rose Avenue Douglasville, Georgia 30134. Mrs. Smith will be laid to rest at the Georgia National Cemetery.
