Mrs. June Merie Campo, age 86, of Southern Pines, North Carolina, formerly of Douglasville, Georgia, passed away on Friday, May 29, 2020. She was born in Petersburg, Virginia on November 4, 1933. Mrs. Campo loved her family and her dog, Dusty. She was once a member of Sunset Hills Baptist Church in Douglasville before moving up to North Carolina with her son, Dale. She was an avid gardener and loved planting all kinds of flowers; she had quite the green thumb.
Mrs. Campo is predeceased by her husband, Retired Army Special Forces SFC Arthur M. Campo; her parents, Hamilton Slate, Sr. and Mary Heath Slate; and her brother, Robert Slate.
She is survived by her only son, Dale Campo; a brother, Hamilton Slate, Jr.; a sister, Betsy Smothers; and numerous other loved ones, family, and friends.
A graveside service, officiated by Reverend Ikey Watson, was held at Rosehaven Memorial Park in Douglasville, Georgia on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at 2:00 pm.
