July 24, 1943May 3, 2021

Linda Dianne Stowers, age 77, of Douglasville, Georgia, passed away Monday, May 3, 2021. She was born July 24, 1943 in Atlanta, Georgia. Dianne’s greatest joys in life were spending time with her family, her children, and especially her grandchildren. She devoted her life to her family and was “Mom” to everyone. Dianne was known for her sweet, kind disposition and her selflessness. She had a way of making friends and family feel special and loved. Everyone loved her and she could win over almost anyone with her great sense of humor. Dianne was exemplary of the Proverbs 31 woman with her love for her family and her love for her Lord. She had been a member of the First Baptist Church of Mableton, worked in ministry for many years, she taught Sunday School and worked as a Nanny once her children were grown. In her spare time, she enjoyed dancing and painting. She was an avid reader with a special interest in the history of England, Ireland, Scotland, and Egypt. Dianne was known for her excellent spelling skills, even after developing Alzheimer’s.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Dorus Raymond and Mary Frances (Moore) Hamil; sister, Mary Lee Morton and grandson, Mason Eric Smith.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Natalie Weathington (Kenny), Mark Stowers (Tricia), and Mary Smith (Rick); nine grandchildren, Dr. Jill Weathington (Ike Floyd), Jonathan Mayfield (Jessica), Jake Weathington (Kaity), Julia Harrell (Dawson), Chris Weathington, Jarett Stowers, Summer Weathington, Samuel Smith and Malia Smith; six great-grandchildren, Leo, Logan, Willow, Isaac, Jupiter and J.J.; as well as many other family members and friends that meant a lot to her.

I grew up with Natalie, Mark and Mary. I was around Dianne every chance I got. She was just like a 2nd mom to me since I was around 6 years old. We would get into her closet and pull out all her clothes and shoes and play dress up. She never once got upset about us being in her closet. She would just look at us and laugh. I remember her taking us to Dunkin Doughnuts, McDonald’s and Six Flags. I remember riding in her Toyota with the music blasting. Dianne and my mom were long time friends. They got even closer once we were all grown up. They went out and brought the fun with them. They had many adventures. I pray I can be half the mom and grandmother and friend that those 2 were. She always had a smile on her face and a big hug to give. I hope her and my mom are up in heaven joking around and dancing like only they can. Prayers for my childhood friends for comfort.

I am so sorry for your loss. Dianne was a sweet soul and always had a smile on her face. I never heard a negative thing come out of her mouth. She is finally pain free and I vision her in heaven dancing and singing with the angles and loving on Stephanie .

Miss Diane was a wonderful soul who loved children! She took care of our boys many times and she took care of one of them at Central Baptist Daycare. She was a jewel. We loved her and so did the boys!❤

Mary and family, I am so sorry for your loss. Even though you knew what was coming, nothing prepares you for the actual loss. The boys and I are praying for you and if there is ever anything you need, even just to listen to stories of your mom, we are here for you.
