

A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Mrs. King was born on June 12, 1930 the daughter of the late John S. and Nell Christine Wallace Cooley. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and a member of the Lithia Springs United Methodist Church. Loving and raising her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren was the love of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, by a daughter, Linda Susan King 1958, by her husband, Thelbert William King in 2000 and by a grandson, Matt Rutherford in 2006.
Mrs. King is survived by her children; Marsha (David) Gilliland, Angela (Calvin) Watts, John L. (Sheila) King, William Kevin (Trisha) King, and Richard King. One brother, Edward S. (Jodie) Cooley. Thirteen grandchildren; Mike and Mark Rutherford, Dana King, Brian Gilliland, Steven King, Jill Lee, Chris Watts, Jennifer Wallace, Brad King, Megan and Taylor Cook, Olivia and Jacob King, Twenty two great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren along with nephew, Clay Cooley.
Funeral services for Mrs. King will be conducted on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at 3 p.m. from the Lithia Springs United Methodist Church with Pastor John Merk officiating. Burial will follow in the Mozley Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. On Thursday, Mrs. King will be carried to the church to lie-in-state from 2 p.m. until the funeral hour. Serving as pallbearers are Mike and Mark Rutherford, Brad and Jacob King, Nick Cooley and Steven King.
Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Lithia Springs United Methodist Church.
