Mary Alma Wix

She was born in Alamo, Georgia, on September 05, 1932, to the late Mr. Cecil Vann and Bessie Riner.

Born into a sharecropping family, Alma began working at the tender age of five, picking cotton and tobacco alongside her loved ones in the fields of rural Georgia. These formative years instilled in her a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for the value of hard labor.

In her adult years, she owned Alma’s Cafe, a beloved restaurant located in the heart of Douglasville, Georgia, for twelve years. The café was known for its warm atmosphere, homemade biscuits, country cooking, and Alma's personal touch that made every patron feel like family.

Alma's professional journey continued with her retirement from Kroger, after which she devoted herself to the Douglas County School System as a bus monitor at the age of 84.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Alma found joy in bowling, golfing, drawing, and fishing. She was the Atlanta Braves biggest fan and never missed a game! Alma was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist church in Powder Springs, Georgia.

Alma is preceded in death by her 5 siblings and her daughter Joyce Rollins.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Jeannie(Mack) Rollins, Jan Harris and Janice Johnson; son-in- law, Donnie Rollins; brothers, Ernest “Ernie” Vann and Tom Vann; grandchildren, Donna Entrekin, Sissy Hope, Tony Harris, Tami Gokey, Carly Allison, Evan Johnson, Erin Allen; 17 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at Whitley Garner at Rosehaven Funeral Home on Monday, June 16, 2025 at 2:00 PM with Reverend Rick Bowen officiating.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, June 16, 2025 from 12:00 PM until the hour of service.

Interment will be held at Woodland Congregational Methodist Church Cemetery in Woodland, Alabama following the service at 3:30 PM Central Time.
