Michael Alva McCowen, Sr.

Michael Alva McCowen, Sr., age 74, of Jasper, Georgia, formerly of Douglasville, passed away Friday, November 3, 2023. He was born January 18, 1949 in Macon, Georgia. Mike’s career as a construction superintendent spanned over 30 years with Tidwell Construction in Douglasville. He is a member of CrossView Church in Waycross, Georgia. Mike had a talent for working with his hands and could fix everything. In his spare time, he loved fishing and camping. Mike loved to travel, especially enjoying trips to the beach. He loved Sarasota and Orange Beach.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 31 years, Peggy (Pilgrim) McCowen; and his parents, Louis F. McCowen and Eleanor (Wade) Wadley.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Michael McCowen, Jr. (Angel), Rusty McCowen (Betsy), Danny Michael Camp (Ashley), Kelley Kristain McCowen and Casey McCowen (Catrina); brother, Loring R. “Bubba” Wadley; sister, Marsha Timm; grandchildren, Michael, David, Alexis, Joy, Zoe, Austin, Ryan, Landon, Autumn, Jason, Case, Kaylin; seven great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and numerous other family members.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, November 9, 2023 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM in the Rosehaven Chapel. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
