Mildred was known for her compassionate and devoted nature, touching the lives of many with her generous spirit and kind-hearted ways. In her earlier years, Mildred was a caregiver through her entire life to family and friends and was affectionately known as a grandma to children not related to her. She was a giver and never a taker, always thinking of others with a selfless and thoughtful heart. Mildred was very forgiving of others and was a woman of strong faith, sharing the Lord with many. Her hard-working and honest character was evident through her many years of service at the world-famous Snack Shack. She loved her time spent crocheting and was an inspirational and wise figure to all who knew her.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Allie Claire Clarke Elliott; husband, Lee Roy Nelms, her daughter, Dianne Nelms; her son, Mark Nelms; her sister, Millie Elliott; and her siblings, Alfred Elliott Jr., James Elliott, Kathryn Smith, Charles Elliott, and Melba Hensel.
She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Lee Nelms, David and Jessica Nelms, Dennis Elliott, and Peggy (Gary) Gachesa. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Richard Nelms, Jonathan Green, Wyatt Hood, and Makayla Nelms, as well as her great-grandchildren, Amber Nelms and Ellie Green.
Mildred E. Nelms will be remembered for her loyal, gentle, and faithful nature, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and love that will endure in the hearts of those she touched.
