Nathan was born on June 26, 1931, in Mayaro, Trinidad, to William and Eugenie Moore. He spent his childhood in Tobago, where he attended Charlotteville Methodist Elementary School. Nathan earned a ‘first grade’ (highest level) Cambridge University issued high school diploma and graduated valedictorian of his junior college class at Caribbean Union College (now known as University of the Southern Caribbean).
At Rockford College, Illinois, Nathan earned a Bachelor of Arts and met his future wife, Mary Simmons. Nathan then completed a Master of Arts at Carleton University in Ontario, Canada, and subsequently earned his PhD in English Literature at the University of British Columbia.
In 1971, Nathan joined the faculty at Walla Walla College (now Walla Walla University) in the state of Washington. In 1979, Nathan joined the faculty at Alabama State University (ASU) in Montgomery, Alabama, where he subsequently became the Chairman of the Language, Literature & Theater Department. Following his retirement from ASU, Nathan and Mary moved to Douglasville, Georgia.
Nathan was extremely energetic in both his professional and personal endeavors. He edited manuscripts for fellow authors and actively participated in a local entrepreneurship organization, Douglasville B2B. Nathan found enjoyment in gardening, fishing, and crafting poetry. Most of all, Nathan was exceptionally dedicated to his family and was a consistent source of support and guidance to his immediate and extended relatives.
Throughout his life, Nathan was an ardent follower of Christ and member of the Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) Church. He found peace and joy in celebrating the Sabbath. Nathan served in numerous leadership roles in the Church, most recently, as head elder of Heritage SDA Church in Douglasville. Passionate for youth education and development, Nathan established a scholarship fund for the Montgomery First SDA Church School and created a youth summer reading program at Heritage SDA Church.
Nathan is survived by his loving wife, Mary; his daughter Dr. Christina Moore and her husband, Dr. Samuel Bond; his daughter Serena Meteau and her husband, Jarred Meteau; his granddaughter, Harlow Meteau; by his sisters, Linda and Nelda Moore-Nana; and his brothers and their spouses, Pastor Samuel and Elizabeth Moore; Nathaniel and Elma Moore; Abraham and Delris Moore; Carlyle and Wynoma Moore; and Dr. Addison and Miriam Moore.
