Phyllis Lord Willingham, born to the late Robert Randall and Dorothy Elizabeth Lord (Goode) on January 27, 1949, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.
A proud graduate of South Cobb High School in Austell, Georgia, Phyllis carried her Southern charm and spirited heart throughout her life. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend — a woman whose strength and warmth touched everyone she met.
Phyllis is preceded in death by her beloved sister Glenda Sue Smith. She is survived by her brother, Randy Lord, and former husband, Wade Willingham; her beloved children, Alisa (Willingham) Obermeyer (son-in-law, Darrell) and son, Damon Willingham; her cherished grandchildren: Alexis (Obermeyer) Edwards (husband, Aaron), Jessica Obermeyer (Lauren Kolsrud), Emily (Obermeyer) Borja (husband, Shayne), Isaac Obermeyer, Lizzie Obermeyer, Amirah Willingham, Saeedah Willingham, James Murphey (Starsha Lackey), and Bri Cherry; and her precious great-grandchildren: Leilani Velez, Michael Edward, Emerysn Fluellen, Melody Borja, Cash Borja, Samson Borja, Owen Edward, Milo Murphey, and Nicole Murphey. She also leaves behind her beloved nephew, John Smith (and family), nephew, Nolan Lord (and family) and niece, Ellen White (and family).
Phyllis found joy in every family gathering, every heartfelt conversation with friends, sewing and crafting, and every Atlanta Falcons game — win or lose. She had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel like family. Her laughter, her warmth, and her unwavering love will be deeply missed.
Her legacy of kindness, strength, and loyalty lives on in all who knew and loved her.
A “Celebration of Life” gathering will be held on her favorite holiday, July 4th. Details will be shared once finalized.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that you honor Phyllis by spending time with those you love and cheering on the Falcons in her memory.
Forever in our hearts, your love will always lead us home.
Whitley Garner at Rosehaven is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements of Phyllis Lord Willingham.
