Mr. Richard “Rickey” Allen Milligan Sr., age 72, of Douglasville, Georgia, passed away Sunday, February 21, 2021. He was born on July 28, 1948 in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Clarence Milligan and Margaret Moon Milligan.

Rickey was a funny and dedicated individual whose life revolved around his family. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was the kind of person who was always willing to help others be it family, friends or the community. Rickey was a career firefighter with the City of Atlanta and retired as Lieutenant after 32 ½ years of service. Even in retirement, he enjoyed watching videos of firefighters in action. An avid hot rod enthusiast, Rickey enjoyed attending car shows throughout the years.

Rickey is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Margaret Milligan, and sister, Patsy Milligan Sutton.

His memory will be cherished by his wife of 50 years, Faye Milligan; sons, Allen Milligan Jr. and Jeremy Ryan Milligan (Marsha); grandchildren, Kayla Milligan (Matthew Hendren), Kristen Milligan (Caleb Currie), Brianna Milligan, Landon Milligan, Benjamin Rilen Milligan, Leland Joel Milligan and John Franklin Milligan; great-grandson, Liam Kai Currie; great-grandson on the way, Murphy Oliver Hendren; brother, Clarence Milligan (Diane); brother in law, Paul Sutton; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 25, 2021 from 5:00pm until 9:00pm at Whitley-Garner at Rosehaven Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at Sunrise Memorial Gardens with burial to follow.

Ric was always a good friend and a good fireman. He worked with my dad in the 6th battalion so I’ve known him for a long time. He was my Lt. at station 29s and we always had a good time and he was also good friend. Ric you will be missed we love ya.

Sad to read that Rickey has passed. He and I worked together for years at AFR. He taught me how to drive and pump an engine. Always great fun and many memories. Prayers for his family. RIP Rickey
