I was deeply saddened to learn, through the viola community, of Bob Stoskopf's tragic death. Both of us, violists and educators, had known each other for many years.  His Castle Enterprises published several of my compositions for viola ensemble.  I have heard so many musicians say how much they learned from him while they were his students, and how supportive and encouraging he was.

Dear Family of Robert Stoskopf, I am so sorry for your loss. Bob was a very good friend of mine. We used to walk together - me in Denmark and him in the States - but also correspond via e-mail about books and music and cooking. I have enclosed one of the last pictures he send me from a walk. His last walk in Kansas after aunt Marys birthday. He was a great support to me and many others on endomondo. He convinced me that I could run and do anything. I miss him deeply. He was a bright spark during my day. My thoughts and prayers are with you his family.

Bob was my viola teacher when he was in Hutchinson Kansas in 1973-4.  He believed in me when I did not believe in myself.  He put music in front of me that I did not know I could play - and I played it.  We reconnected recently on Facebook, and I was able to let him know how important he has been in my life.  He is a treasured friend and I feel his loss deeply!

Dear Julie and family,I'm Magdalena from Spain and I was one of his Endomondo and FB friends. We both were keen on classical music and sports and we were in fluent contact through FB.He was a very cheerful,clever,kind, supportive person and he was always there to cheer up,although we never met personally.I wondered why he didn't write me a single line for so long and I started to investigate on the web,when I was hit by  the news two weeks after his death. I'm so sorry.The only thing that comforts me a bit is the fact that thanks to your aunt's birthday,you could meet after some years and be with him in person and maybe have a chance to say goodbye although you didn't know that it would gonna be the last one... He's in my prayers.May God have him in heaven and give you some comfort.

Over the last few years Bob was using an on-line community phone app to track his exercise called Endomondo, its a site in which people from all over the world use their phone GPS track and encourage each other to lead an active life. Bob had many friends on the site whom all enjoyed his friendly charm and encouragement. As a tribute to the man many of the Endomondo users have set up an Endomondo challenge in his honour and this challenge currently has over 500 people from all over the world in a friendly walking challenge to remember Bob.

Mr. Stoskopf was my violin teacher at Mabry Middle school in Marietta Ga for 3 years. He was kind, patient,  and a wonderful teacher. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time.

I remember when you kids would come to visit your grandparents, Lulu and Lee.  I' m so sorry to hear of your loss.  I know it was a bad accident, I'm assuming car. You are in my prayers.

I was shocked and saddened to learn of this. Bob and I were friends for nearly 50 years. We spoke frequently by phone, and I had just spoken to him. His circle of influence was very large, and he touched many people through his music, through music education, his walking. All who knew him were positively influenced by him, and he will be missed by many. Keeping the family in my prayers. RIP Bob...I miss you.

So very sorry. We were friends when the family lived on 42nd St. in KCK. Remember calling him "little Bobby"  Such a dear family. Sending prayers your way.
