Ruth S. Fincher

Mrs. Ruth Shelton Fincher, age 83, of Douglasville, GA passed away Monday, May3, 2016. She was born in Greenville, GA on January 22, 1933. Ruth was a graduate from Greenville High School. On June 8, 1957 she married the love of her life, James Woodrow “Woody” Fincher. She retired from Atlanta Gas Light and was a member of Prays Mill Baptist Church. She loved her Lord, family and flowers. Ruth always had a smile on her face and enjoyed life to the fullest. Callaway Gardens was her “Heaven on Earth” and loved spending time there. Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, James Woodrow “Woody” Fincher; her parents John and Mae Roberts Shelton; brother Lewis Shelton; sisters Louise Lawrence and Jonnie Mae Shelton as well as niece Sheree Shelton Duszynski. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Janet and Roger Bryant; brother Lamar Shelton; brothers and sister-in-laws Harold and Barbara Shelton, Joel and Linda Shelton as well as Ronnie and Linda Shelton; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews and other family members. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 from 3 until 8 o’clock pm. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at 2 o’clock in the Rosehaven Chapel with Brother Joey Rainwater officiating. Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
