Mr. Stephen Eugene Akins, age 31, of Austell, GA passed away Thursday, July 2, 2015. He was born September 11, 1983 in Midland, TX. Stephen was a member of the Georgia National Guard who served his country with honor, integrity, and courage. Stephen endured four combat tours in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Stephen enjoyed most outdoor activities including hunting, fishing and camping. He loved the mountains and the serenity that they offered. His greatest reward in life was helping others.
Stephen was preceded in death by his father Milton Gale Akins.
He is survived by his mother, Chrystal Akins, his son, Skylar Matthew Akins, his maternal grandmother, Wilma Louise Jones and a host of other family and friends.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be Thursday, July 9, 2015 at 10:00 AM in the Rosehaven Chapel. Interment will follow at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA.
