Sunshine Manwell, age 74, of Douglasville, Georgia, passed away Saturday, February 27, 2021. She was born August 25, 1946 in Atlanta, Georgia. Sunshine grew up in East Point and moved to Douglasville in the early 70s. She worked for AT&T for 27 years, where she got her nickname. Sunshine enjoyed laughing and meeting people. In her spare time, she enjoyed working out in the yard and reading. She was an avid horseman, who could be kicked to the Moon and get right back on. Sunshine had owned thoroughbreds and enjoyed recreational riding. She loved the Lord and was a member of The King’s Way Baptist Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents; Sanford and Joyce (Hammock) Smith.
Those left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband of 17 years, Thomas “Tom” Manwell; daughter, Shannon Brisendine; sisters, Lois Leatherwood and Sandy White-Wardlaw; two grandchildren, Kayla and Kelesi; and two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 2:00 PM in the Rosehaven Chapel with Dr. Tom Williams officiating and speaker, Ken Johns. She will be laid to rest at Bright Star United Methodist Church Cemetery.
