Mrs. Virginia Quattlebaum, age 73, of Douglasville, GA died Monday, January 12, at the Wellstar Hospital in Douglasville, GA. Born June 20, 1941 in Atlanta, GA, she was a graduate of J. C. Murphy High School where she excelled in basketball. However, she won her best prize when she met Joe, her husband of 50 years, at the Bowling Alley!
Mrs. Quattlebaum was preceded in death by her husband Joe Ben “JB” Quattlebaum, her parents, Ellis DeWitt Brannen & Margaret Beatrice Knox; grandparents L.A. Brannen and Laura Byrd Brannen; and sister, Nancy Brannen Webster.
She is survived by daughters, Jennifer Quattlebaum Garrett and spouse Bowman Staples Garrett III, Stephanie Quattlebaum Mashburn and spouse James Chad Mashburn; son, Nathan Adam Quattlebaum and spouse Sonya Echols Quattlebaum; grandchildren, Josiah Soren Garrett, Coleman West Garrett, Asher Brannen Garrett, Brendan Jacob Bickleman, Kellen James Mashburn, Hannah Williams, Jordyn Bailee Quattlebaum; brother, Samuel “Hugh” Brannen; sister, Margaret Brannen Austin; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and a host of brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws.
Mrs. Quattlebaum was cremated and the family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, January 15, 2015 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Donations may be made in Virginia’s memory to The American Cancer Society:
