

Born on May 3, 1948, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Bill was the son of the late William Stingle, Sr. and Dorothy Dietrich Stingle. A proud American, Bill honorably served in the United States Army, where he earned a Purple Heart for his bravery and dedication to his country.
Following his military service, Bill began a long and fulfilling career with the Railroad, where he worked diligently for 38 years before his well-deserved retirement from Norfolk Southern. His work ethic, loyalty, and camaraderie left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege to work alongside him.
Bill was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose love for his family was boundless. He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Kathleen Stingle; his daughter, Lisa Schad, and her husband, Donald; and his son, William “Billy” Stingle and wife, Joelien. He will be deeply missed by his cherished grandchildren, Jamie, Hannah, Emma, Aidan, and Caitlin. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his precious granddaughter, Kayleigh, and he loved spending time with Smokey and Bandit.
A lifelong sports fan, Bill never missed a chance to cheer on his beloved Philadelphia Eagles. In his younger years, he was an avid softball player and a talented pitcher who was known for his competitive spirit and love of the game. For the past 22 years, he was a faithful member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Douglasville, where he found fellowship and strength in his faith.
Bill’s playful spirit and passion for all things Godzilla brought joy and laughter to those around him. Above all else, he loved spending time with his family—his greatest source of pride and happiness.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. at The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Douglasville, Georgia.
The family will receive friends on that day from 3:00 pm- 4:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, a donation would be appreciated to either the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd or the Douglas County Animal Shelter.
Bill Stingle will be remembered for his courage, humor, devotion, and unwavering love for those he held dear. His life was one of service, faith, and heart—a legacy that will live on in all who knew and loved him.
