

Born in Sandy Township on July 17, 1931, she was a the daughter of the late John R. and Lillian Mae (Gearhart) Whipple. She married Norman T. Kirk on January 8, 1953. He survives.
Mrs.Kirk was a 1949 graduate of Sandy High school and worked for Crawford's Grocery Store, Tamler's Department store, and Jackson China Company.
She was a member of the Home Camp United Methodist Church where she was very active and was the church secretary. She enjoyed reading, decorating, quilting, antiques, word searches, puzzles and music.
Mrs. Kirk is survived by a son, Barry S. Kirk and his wife, Tami J. of St. Augustine, FL; a daughter, Barbara S. Liedl Mayes and her husband Timothy W. of Rockton; three grandchildren, Timothy Liedl, Kyle Kirk and Ryan Kirk.
Also surviving are a brother, John E. Whipple and his wife, Margaret of Soldier, PA; a sister, Hazel McDonald and her husband, Richard of Falls Creek, PA; a half sister, Sara Bayer and her husband, James of Home Camp, PA; a half brother, David Griffiths and his wife, Patricia of Luthersburg, PA; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are her parents, five brothers and a sister.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at the Mohney-Yargar Funeral Chapel with her pastor, Rev. Richard Howe officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 2 to 4:00pm and 7 to 9:00pm and on Saturday from 10:00am until the time of service. Burial will be in Rockton Cemetery.
