Betty J Chaney

Born in DuBois on April 12, 1920, she was a daughter of the late John and Nellie (Pentz )Shenkle.

Betty was a legal secretary for 40 years and also was a homemaker.

She was an active member of Lakeside United Methodist Church and The DuBois Food Pantry. She served on the boards of the DuBois Senior Citizens Center, the DuBois Public Library and the Local Cerebral Palsy Organization.

Betty is survived by two daughters: Janine K. (Bob) Johnson of DuBois and Pamela Chaney of Annandale, VA; a step-grandson, Kevin Johnson; a brother, William H. Shenkle of DuBois; two sisters, Carolyn A. McCain of Athens, AL and Patricia A. Fair of Brighton, CO.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lewis A. Chaney whom she married on August 11, 1956 and who passed away on November, 3, 1966; and two brothers, C. Richard ”Dick” and Courtney Shenkle.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, November 14, 2011 at Lakeside United Methodist Church with The Rev. Robert Zilhaver officiating. Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.

Friends will be received at Mohney-Yargar Funeral Chapel on Sunday, November 13, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. An additional viewing will be held at Lakeside United Methodist Church on Monday at 10 am until the time of service.
