

He was born on June 23, 1919 in Mt. Zion, Clearfield, the son of the late Charles and Idora (Hoover) Nelson. On May 15, 1939 he married Thelma (Vokes)”Chum” Nelson, who passed away on September 29, 2008.
Edwin was a graduate of Clearfield High School. He went on to serve in the United States Army 1944-1946 during WWII and then served in the 28th division of the National Guard 1946-1951 during the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Nelson worked as a carpenter and foremen for 38 years at DuBois Tool and Electric. He was a active member of Home Camp United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Garfield lodge #559, Consistory 32nd degree Mason; he served as Chairman of the Water Authority for Union Twp. in 1975 and was a lifetime member of Union Twp. Fire Company.
He enjoyed hunting and sports.
He is survived by his six children: Mary Ann (Tom) Hendricks of Rockton, Connie Mae (Gann) Walters of Rockton, Charles E. (Brenda) Nelson of Treasure Lake, Barbara Lee Nelson of Rockton, Bernice Jean(Brian Cessna) DeLong of Rockton and Kenneth D.(Susan) Nelson of New York City, NY; sixteen grandchildren, twenty six great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, step mother Fannie(Murphy) Nelson, wife, three brothers: R.K. Nelson, A.C. Nelson and Francis Nelson and six sisters: Vanetta Nickles, Margret Whitehill, Genieve Williams, Thelma Buono, Miriam Amstutz and Mae Fischer.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at the Home Camp United Methodist Church with Pastor Richard Howe officiating. Full military honors will be accorded by the member of the DuBois Area Honor Guard at the church.
Burial will take place in Rockton Cemetery.
