Gary L Sayers

Born on January 7, 1945 in New Bethlehem, he was the son of the late Thomas H. and Evelyn (Bish) Sayers. He married Linda Kay Matson on October 1, 1966. She survives.

Mr. Sayers graduated from Red Bank Valley High School in 1963 and Clarion University in 1965. He worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, Brockway Glass, and retired from the DuBois Area School District as business manager.

He enjoyed vacationing and fishing in the Outer Banks with his family, golfing, and gardening.

Mr. Sayers was drafted in to the United States Army and served in Vietnam from September 1967 to September 1968.

In addition to his wife, Linda, he is survived by three sons: Gregory Lee (Allison) Sayers, Christopher Scott (Tracey) Sayers, and Shawn Paul (Crystal) Sayers; nine grandchildren: Brittany R. Sayers, Brianna R. Sayers, Katie M. Sayers, Kara N. Sayers, Nick Cristini, Kate Cristini, Tate G. Sayers, Gavin T. Sayers, and Reese E. Sayers. He is also survived by two brothers: William (Betty) Sayers and Tim (Bonnie) Sayers; and a sister, Cathy (Jim) Bowser.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Mohney-Yargar Funeral Chapel, Inc. with Rev. Carl. H Bish officiating. Military Honors will be accorded at the funeral home. Interment will be in Cedarview Memorial Park.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday November 22, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM and on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the hour of services.
