Helen M. Horn

Mrs. Horn was born January 27, 1930 in Rathmill, the daughter of Emerson A. Yount Sr. and Frances (Halwig) Yount.

She was a graduate of the DuBois High School class of 1948.

Mrs. Horn had formerly been employed with Jeffers Electronics of DuBois

She was a member of the Lakeside United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Horn was a member of the Punxsutawney Region Antique Auto Club, Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, Goodwill Industries Auxiliary and DuBois Area Historical Society. She was a committee member of the DuBois Boy Scout Troop 27 and was active in PTA.

Helen enjoyed her 1962 Ford Convertible, antique cars, music, decorating, her flower garden, traveling, arts and crafts, camping, bird watching and butterflies and at one time roller skating. She enjoyed people and Life.

Helen is survived by her husband, Sherman L. Horn, Jr., whom she wed July 4, 1951 in DuBois at St. Pauls Lutheran Church, a son, Gary S. Horn and his wife Cynthia of Cooksburg and a number of nieces and nephews. Also surviving is an aunt, Helen Salada; two cousins, Donald and Gary Salada; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Emerson Yount.

Mrs. Horn was the last member of her generation having been preceded in death by her parents, two brothers; Emerson A. Yount Jr., and Ronald R. Yount and a sister, Shirley E. Bills.

Funeral Services will be held at the Mohney – Yargar Funeral Chapel, Inc. of DuBois on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at 4:00 PM with Rev. Robert Zilhaver officiating. Interment will be at Morningside Cemetery.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2:00 PM until the hour of services.
