Mary Carolyn Hilliard Waggett

Mary Carolyn (Hilliard) Waggett, 86, of Grant St., DuBois, died Friday, October 15, 2010 at DuBois Regional Medical Center. She was the wife of the late Henry G. Waggett whom she married in DuBois on June 18, 1960. He preceded her in death on April 18, 2004.

Born in DuBois on November 17, 1923, a daughter of the late Ivan K. and Mary E. (Flynn) Hilliard.

Carolyn attended St. Catherine's Catholic School where she graduated Class of 1941. She was employed as a secretary with DuBois Brewing Company for many years. She was a life-long resident of DuBois and couldn't think of living anywhere else.

Carolyn volunteered with the DRMC Hospice, the American Red Cross, and the American Cancer Society. She was a longtime member of the DuBois Country Club. Carolyn enjoyed playing bridge, doing crossword puzzles, reading, movies, music and spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed music, and was a long-time fan of Frank Sinatra and the Boston Pops.

Surviving Carolyn is a daughter, Carla Marshall-Waggett and her spouse, Becky, of Lunenburg, MA.; a son M. Patrick Waggett of Canton, MA, and his son Henry; three stepsons, Lew Waggett and his wife Arlene of Ft. Pierce, FL., John Waggett and his wife Patsie of Orange Park, FL., and Tim Waggett and his wife Joyce of Bealeton, VA.

Also surviving are 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 15 nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Jack Wiegleman; her second husband, Henry G. Waggett; her beloved sister, Jean E. (Hilliard) McMahon; and a daughter-in-law, Jane (Malone) Waggett, wife of Patrick.

A Memorial Mass was said at 10:00am Saturday, October 23, 2010 at the chapel of Christ the King Manor where Carolyn had been a resident for four-and-a-half years and had made many good friends, both residents and staff alike. Rev. Fr. John "Jack" Bauer served as celebrant. Interment will be in Morningside Cemetery in spring of 2011. Mohney-Yargar Funeral Chapel, DuBois is in charge of arrangements.
