

Born in Rockton on January 9, 1928, he was the son of the late Thomas M. and Derma (Bailey) Kirk. He married Alice “Bonnie” (Whipple) Kirk on January 8, 1953 who preceded him in death in May 2011.
Mr. Kirk was a 1946 graduate of the DuBois Area High school and served in the U.S Navy aboard Destroyer class ships. He retired from the Penn Traffic Corporation Riverside Division after 35 years of service.
He was a member of the Home Camp United Methodist Church, Charter member of the Union Township Fire Department and the Home Camp Grange. Norman enjoyed hunting, camping, gardening, cooking, walking, “Monday” breakfast with his friends and working on projects around the house.
Mr. Kirk is survived by a son, Barry S. Kirk and his wife Tami of St. Augustine, FL; daughter, Barbara S. Mayes and her husband Timothy of Rockton; grandchildren, Timothy Liedl, Kyle Kirk and Ryan Kirk and Great Granddaughter Alivia Liedl.
Also surviving are sisters, Janet Shaffer of Erie, Phyllis Shaffer of Selinsgrove and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, October 20th , 2012 at the Mohney-Yargar Funeral Chapel with his pastor, Rev. Richard Howe officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00pm and 7:00 to 9:00pm and on Saturday from 10:00am until the time of service. Burial will be in the Rockton Cemetery.
