Phyllis C. Shirokey

Mrs. Shirokey was born August 3, 1930 in DuBois; daughter of the late Richard and Daisy (Long) Johnson.

Phyllis graduated from DuBois High School in 1947 and went to nursing school to become a candy striper at DuBois Hospital. She moved Schenectady, NY to pursue a career as real estate broker where she worked for Wellbourne & Purdy for many years.

She enjoyed music, dancing, and loved arts & crafts.

Mrs. Shirokey is survived by husband of 65 years, Alexander Shirokey, whom she married April 13,1950 in Cumberland, MD; daughters: Debi Constantino-Fleeger of DuBois and Lori Atkinson of Schenectady, NY; grandchildren: Sunni Schubert, Robert “JP” Milhomnme Jr., and Sklyar Atkinson; great-grandchildren: Aubrey Lynn Hope Milhomme; siblings: Shirlee Cleary of NY, Sandi Kelege of PA, Doris Frantz of PA, Joyce Penvose of PA, Ronnie Johnson of PA and Dennis Johnson of PA; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Melvin Johnson; and sister, Donna Chittester.

Friends may be received on Thursday, March 19, 2015 from 5:00 to 9:00 pm.

Services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, March 20, 2015 at 11:00 am with Pastor John Miller officiating.

Interment will be at Morningside Cemetery.
