

Born on March 27, 1925 in Reynoldsville,he was the son of the late Dr. William A. and Dora (Reed) Hill. He married Ann (Grether) Hill on August 5, 1950. She survives.
Dr. Hill was a graduate of Reynoldsville High School. After the war, he received his degree from Allegheny College and went on to Jefferson Medical School to receive his medical degree. After three years of being in practice with his father, Dr. William A. Hill and Dr. C.A. Murray, he went on to get his ophthalmology specialty at Eye and Ear Hospital in Pittsburgh. He came back to the community that he loved and practiced for 33 years.
He was a member of the staff of Maple Avenue Hospital, DuBois Hospital, and DuBois Regional Medical Center; member of the American College of Surgeons and American Board of Ophthalmology. Dr. Hill was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church in DuBois. He served on the board of the First National Bank in Reynoldsville from 1961-1993 and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and traveling.
Dr. Hill was a veteran and had served in the United States Army in the 493rd Battalion Battery B where is became a tank commander.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Hill, three children: Deborah (Glenn) Staudt of Elizabethtown, PA, Susan (Eric) Carlson of Albany, NY, and David (Ingrid) Hill of Boston, MA; nine grandchildren: Elizabeth Staudt, Benjamin Staudt, Angela Staudt, David W. Hill, Jonathan Hill, Stephen Hill, Faith Hill, Peter Hill, and Daniel Hill; and three great grandchildren: Abigail, Ayanna, and Nathan Hill. He is also survived by a sister, Catherine (Chester) Wingert of DuBois.
Dr. Hill was preceded in death by his parents and a son, William A. Hill.
Funeral services will be held at the First United Methodist Church in DuBois on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at 11:00 AM with Rev. David Nagele officiating. Interment will be in Morningside Cemetery on Monday, December 6, 2010.
Friends will be received at the Mohney-Yargar Funeral Chapel, Inc. on Friday, December 3, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
