On July 20, 2024, Alice Loughead passed peacefully and surrounded by her family. As she said herself, “I did nothing spectacular, and I liked it that way.” We disagree. She was the foundation of our family, and we cherish her traditions, recipes, and cut out newspaper clippings on various topics. She taught us the art of conversation, that everyone wants to be talked to and included. Born on September 28, 1932, to Tessie and Russell, she grew up in the Great Depression, which explained her saving and reusing everything. She graduated from Mayfield High School and met Lawrence Loughead, DDS, on their first day of college at Miami University. They married in 1954 and at her end only wished to be with him again in Heaven after 63 married years. She taught school then decided being Mom was her vocation to Dr. Jeffrey (Mindy) Loughead, Dr. Douglas (Lisa) Loughead and Dr. Erin Whittaker (Aaron). Even better was being Memaw to Brittany (Pat) Grannan, Molly (Mike) Egnot, Connor, Graham (FrancesMary), Katherine, Annelise, Mackenzie, Jack (Sydney), Mitchell, Tessa Whittaker and six great-grandchildren. Predeceased by parents and brother, Ken (Linda). Alice was a 60+ years member of Maple Grove Methodist Church. She volunteered at Riverside’s nursery for 30 years and was volunteer board president, making many special friends. She had a lifelong special ladies’ lunch group, the “TWIGgies.” She was very generous to children in need and had a soft spot for all children. Alice made a happy home and will be missed every day. The family thanks the staff at Feridean Commons for their care. Private funeral followed by open calling hours will be on Saturday, July 27, from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at Schoedinger Dublin, 5980 Perimeter Drive, Dublin, Ohio 43017 with Rev. Joel Baer presiding. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Ronald McDonald House or charity of your choice.
