It is with deep sadness we are saying goodbye to our beloved Papa, Dedushka, and Grandpa Boris Rudkevich. Boris peacefully passed away on August 8, 2026, at the age of 89 at the Senior Star Memory Care in Dublin. He was surrounded by his loving family and his loving caregivers at the Memory Care and Summit Hospice. He also received loving care from Charity, Jeff, Beth, Tiesha, and Tiffany throughout his last months.
Boris was born on January 1, 1937, in what used to be Leningrad, now Saint Petersburg, Russia. Boris’ father Victor, a decorated officer, passed away from wounds sustained in WWII when Boris was only 10. Boris was raised by his loving mother Minna. He grew up to be a kind, intelligent, and caring man. He graduated from the Leningrad Institute of Civil Engineering and loved his profession as a Mechanical Engineer. He married the love of his life, Fanya, in 1962, and raised a family with daughter Victoria and son Eugene. He was a loving and protective dad, son, and husband, and his family always felt secure and cared for. He always encouraged his children to excel at everything that they did. The whole family came to the United States in 1979 and initially settled in Evansville, IN, and later moved to New Albany, OH to be close to their daughter. Having to start over in a new country, he learned English, advanced his Bachelor’s degree to a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering, and passed the Professional Engineer (PE) exam on his first try. He was a dedicated and innovative professional, serving as chief engineer at Boonville Mining until he retired.
Early in his life, Boris was interested in black and white, and later color, photography. After his retirement, he became an expert in digital photography and an active member of the Columbus Camera Club. He had won several awards and honorable mentions for his photography. He and Fanya also enjoyed traveling, and they visited many countries, making friends everywhere they went.
Boris is preceded in death by his father Victor, his mother Minna, and his beautiful wife Fanya. He will be sorely missed by daughter Victoria, his son-in-law Steven, his son Eugene, and his grandchildren Gina, Sophie, Alexa, and Byron.
May you rest in peace, our beloved Papa and Dedushka, and may your memory be a blessing.
