Carolyn Vesper

Carolyn Vesper (nee Glover) was born November 8, 1953, the youngest daughter of Willis Borders Glover and Miriam Natalie Glover (nee Cater). She is survived by her husband, Reverend Keith Vesper, their two daughters, Meghan Elizabeth Vesper and Anne Marie (Annie) Vesper, son-in-law Luke Andrew Kucalaba, and their much beloved granddaughter Madeline Faith Kucalaba. Madeline called Carolyn “Gree” and they had a very special relationship, often playing elaborate games together.

Carolyn graduated from Duke University with a BA in Religion in 1975 and a Master of Divinity from Duke Divinity School in 1983. She was an excellent scholar, graduated at the top of her class, and was encouraged by her professors to stay and pursue a doctoral degree. Instead she moved with her husband and newborn daughter to Denver, Colorado where Keith was continuing his studies.

She was the love of her husband’s life without whom he could never have become the person he is now and is still trying to become. She was God’s grace in his life. They shared a love of reading and of books that gradually filled bookcase after bookcase in their homes over the years as each purchased books that followed their particular interests. She taught him a love for novels well beyond his interests in science fiction, as well as for scholarly non-fiction books that expanded his appreciation for curiosity and knowledge beyond that which could be measured in physics and chemistry labs.

Carolyn was an avid gardener; she never hesitated to prune struggling plants to the ground – often giving them a chance for new growth. She knit beautiful blankets and scarves, felted bowls and seasonal decorations, and stitched quilts by hand. Family and friends looked forward to her baking for holidays, birthdays, and other special occasions – her lemon icebox cake, triple chocolate pound cake, and lemon blueberry pound cake were often requested. She had an incredible imagination and sense of playfulness with her daughters and granddaughter, bringing stuffed animals to life in a truly special way.

Cherished by her husband, deeply loved by and known as both “Mom” and “Mud” to Annie and Meghan, she left them priceless memories for the years ahead.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at Worthington United Methodist Church, 600 N. High St, Worthington, OH 43085. Visitation will be at 10:00 am and the service will follow at 11:00 am. The service will also be live-streamed and information regarding this is available on the church website.
