Florence Nadolny

Florence Nadolny (nee Paluszek), 95, passed away on December 29, 2021, in Dublin, Ohio. She was born in Brooklyn, New York to the late John and Frances (nee Kubis) Paluszek and was a first-generation child of Polish immigrants. She learned English upon entering first grade in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. After graduating Washington Irving High School in Manhattan, Florence spent her career in accounting and worked for over twenty years as a payroll master at St. John's Queens Hospital. She raised her family in Middle Village, Queens, New York from 1958 to 1998 when she and her husband moved to Dublin to be close to her daughter and her family. While in Middle Village, she held many leadership and fundraising positions in local civic groups. She maintained an active role in her home church in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.

Florence is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alexander Nadolny, to which she was married for 70 years; brother Raymond Paluszek, three sisters-in-law Caroline and Florence Paluszek and Teresa Nadolny, and one brother-in-law Edmund Nadolny.

She will be greatly missed by her children, Kenneth (Judy) Nadolny of Houston, Texas, and Jill (David) Kilanowski of Dublin, Ohio; grandchildren, Andrew Nadolny, Kevin (Tomoko) Nadolny, Philip aka Fr. Humbert, OP Kilanowski, Amanda (Jay) Compton, Peter (Victoria) Kilanowski, and Mark Kilanowski. Florence and her husband were blessed with six great-grandchildren: Ken and Miho Nadolny, Piper, Lexie, and Rhett Compton, and Francesca Kilanowski. She is also survived by her brother, Henry Paluszek, of Hobe Sound, Florida, a sister-in-law Anita Olen, and by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She found sweet friendships with her neighbors at Treetops in Dublin. Florence had life-long friends of over 80 years she cherished from growing up in Brooklyn, sharing the experiences of the Depression, World War II and raising children in New York. In October of 2021, a family celebratory luncheon was held in honor of her 95th birthday, creating wonderful memories to treasure.

Florence was passionate about her family and her Polish heritage and its traditions. She enjoyed feeding the deer and birds that visited her garden, Polish pottery, giraffes, crossword puzzles, baking, sewing and genealogy. She was proficient on the computer and enjoyed searching the Internet for news, sales, and additions to her pottery collection. She and Alex enjoyed traveling to see family, Poland, and Europe. She loved being part of her grandchildren's lives attending religious and graduation ceremonies, athletic events, marching band competitions, and seeing the next generation grow.

Arrangements are entrusted to Schoedinger Dublin. A memorial mass will be held in Florence's honor at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 280 N Grant Ave, Columbus, Ohio on Saturday, January 8th, 2022, at 2 PM. Interment will be at a later date in the family plot in Holy Cross Polish National Catholic Church Cemetery in Commack, New York. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and The Polish Children Heartline who bring children from Poland to the U.S. for heart surgery.
