Frank Scipione

He was the beloved husband of Ruth for 29 years; devoted husband of the late Carol Ann for 31 years; cherished father of Mary Ann (Duncan) Stewart, Joseph (the late Sherri Dyer) Scipione, Jane (Mark) O’Loughlin, Charles (Tami) Scipione, Catherine (Andrew) Forbes, Jennifer (Dennis) Bajec, and Kevin (Carie Beckner) Scipione; adoring grandfather of Angelina (Rory) Malloy, Tara (Cody) Hensen, and the late Luke Scipione, Ian (Ariel Kraakman), Adrian (Kayla), and Emma Stewart, Jeremy (Natalie) and Elana Forbes, and Garrett and Audrey Bajec; precious great-grandfather of Jack, Charlie and Lily; adored son of the late Fiorindo and Vitalina (Pasini) Scipione; predeceased by treasured brothers Teodoro “Ted,” Federico “Fred,” Beniamino “Ben,” Antonio “Tony,” Mario “Kirk” Pasini, Dominic “Scub” Scipione, and sisters Cecilia "Cease" (Lloyd) Damron, Anna (Ed) Ramus, and Josephine "Jo" Scipione; dearest uncle, great-uncle, and cousin to many.

Frank was born on January 28, 1933, in Portage, Pennsylvania, into a big family who loved him deeply and taught him how to be a good man. He learned well and carried honesty, kindness, courage, and joy into every part of his long and full life. He paid his way through college by playing saxophone in a swing band and working to install telephone poles along the PA Turnpike by planting dynamite. Frank proudly served in the U.S. Army, retiring from the Reserves as Lt Colonel.

He began his career as a music teacher before joining Nationwide Insurance where he worked for most of his professional life. He and his growing family moved to various states as his assignments grew, and after several relocations, he transferred to the home office in Columbus, Ohio. There with Carol Ann, he settled the family in Worthington, Ohio, where he was a skillful and determined DIY-er for over forty years. He retired after a dedicated career and married Ruth. Together they traveled the globe, filled their home with family dinners, and took care of everyone lucky enough to call them la mia famiglia.

A gifted and devoted musician, Frank continued writing arrangements for pastoral choral music well into his retirement. He was an early adopter of technology in efforts to score his music more efficiently. And he loved to sing! As a long time member of St Peter’s parish in Worthington, he sang in the choir...and in every choir at each parish they joined and was often sought out and encouraged to join the choir at every church he visited in town and on the road. He sang as often and as heartily as he could, bringing smiles and joy to everyone around him.

Deeply proud of his Italian heritage, he spent many years researching his family's genealogy, tracing his parents' Italian roots with the same care he brought to everything he did. He also loved learning languages, delighting in the study of Italian and French throughout his life. Frank was the patriarch of his family and the heart around which they gathered. His legacy of faith, family, music, and love of learning will live on in all who were blessed to know him, as he will be deeply and greatly missed.

Visitation will be held at Schoedinger Dublin, 5980 Perimeter Drive, Dublin, OH 43017, US, on Monday, August 10, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Brigid Catholic Church, 7179 Avery Rd, Dublin, OH 43017, US, on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Mid-Ohio Food Collective.
